Hunting Down An Eagle Slayer

LEAD: THE slaying was done with ''a small-caliber projectile'' that tore through the neck and right lung, officials said. The body was found last Dec. 23 in the Heislerville Wildlife Management Area in Maurice River Township, Cumberland County, N.J. The victim: a young bald eagle. Since then pledges of rewards for information leading to conviction of the killer have grown to about $10,000, says Gregory Huljack, deputy chief of the Bureau of Law Enforcement in the New Jersey Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife.
