Tobey Maguire, de son vrai nom Tobias Vincent Maguire, né le à Santa Monica, Californie (États-Unis) est un acteur et producteur américain.
Tobey Maguire est principalement connu pour avoir tenu le rôle de Peter Parker / Spider-Man dans la première trilogie cinématographique Spider-Man, réalisée par Sam Raimi. Après l'annulation de Spider-Man 4, qui devait sortir en 2011, le rôle est repris par Andrew Garfield, puis Tom Holland.
Il fut révélé à la fin des années 1990 par plusieurs films comme Pleasantville, de Gary Ross (1998), Wonder Boys, de Curtis Hanson (2000), Ice Storm (1997) et Chevauchée avec le diable (1999).
Durant les années 2010, il livre une performance dramatique dans le drame Brothers, de Jim Sheridan (2009), puis donne la réplique à son ami Leonardo DiCaprio dans Gatsby le Magnifique (2013), de Baz Luhrmann. Puis en 2014, il incarne le champion d'échecs Bobby Fischer dans le film biographique Le Prodige, réalisé par Edward Zwick. En 2021, il fait une apparition remarquée dans Spider-Man: No Way Home où il reprend son rôle de Spider-Man.

Govt of Indian Prime Min Indira Gandhi, citing danger to India's security and stability, has imposed toughest press censorship in 28 yrs since country's independence; electricity was cut off in offices of major English-language dailies in New Delhi halting publication; elaborate censorship system for foreign correspondents has been established; few newspapers are published and pro-Govt dailies have adopted cautious tone; only journalist who has so far been arrested is K R Malkani, editor of Motherland; wife has reptdly filed petition of habeus corpus with Sup Ct to free him; set of press guidelines is distributed; UPI pres Roderick W Beaton protests to Min Gandhi against censorship of news dispatches; A R Baji, Govt's chief information spokesman, warns correspondents about restrictions; 1st dispatch submitted by UPI correspondent Victor J Vanzi went through 4 censors, each of whom deleted parts of it (M)

Indian officials are retpdly censoring some news dispatches transmitted to other countries; censorship is said to be exercised at Min of Information bldg in New Delhi; Govt is said to have waived censorship on repts on news conf held on June 26; AP repts that its leased line from New Delhi to London had been cut off for more than 7 hrs on June 26 after Govt proclaimed emergency; other foreign news agencies and commericial wire operations, including RCA and ITT, rept similar disruptions; Brit Post Office repts there was major cable break in Bombay; Indian diplomatic sources in Moscow rept that they believe cutoff was to allow for time to organize new press restrictions in India, including censorship of foreign and Indian correspondents (S)
