Several Japanese newspapers report that the Rakuten Golden Eagles will not grant early release to pitcher Masahiro Tanaka, who has expressed desire to join Major League Baseball in 2014; instead, Eagles are reportedly planning to offer Tanaka double or triple his salary of about $4 million, which could make him highest-paid Japanese pitcher in history.
