New York State officials announce that another ramp to Tappan Zee bridge will be closed so that it can be used as a staging area in the construction of a $3.9 billion, twin-spanned bridge that is going up parallel to the current crumbling structure; many drivers in Tarrytown area are worried that closing will lead to more traffic problems.

Bronx officials are moving to create waterfront showcase on its side of Harlem River, between 138th and 149th Streets, in effort to transform a largely desolate, industrial strip in South Bronx into destination like Brooklyn Bridge Park; plan, which is still being developed, would include esplanade, park, restaurants, stores, theaters and residential towers.
